Richmond Jets U15 C7 win the Ice Breaker Tournament
U15 C7 had a very exciting weekend playing a total of 5 games, starting with a late game on Friday night and ending with an exciting championship game on Sunday in the Coliseum! They first played against Semiahmoo and were victorious with a 4-1 win. On Saturday, they played another exciting game against Jets C4 and despite a hard battle both offensively and defensively, they lost 3-5. Nevertheless, they persevered on Saturday night to beat Victoria 5-2. Up early the next day to play another Richmond team, C3. The game started out very even, with the score being 0-0 after the first period. Both teams battled hard but C7 was victorious and won 4-1.
The hard work of the supportive coaches and teammates paid off as they made it to the final game on Sunday at 5pm against Richmond Jets C6. Watching the C7 team really come together and support one another was definitely a highlight. The crowd was on the edge of their seats for this final game, watching every moment and taking in all the excitement. By the second period, C7 was winning 3-2 until some unfortunate penalties against them caused a couple of 5-on-3s. With the game tied now 3-3 the excitement in the arena was palpable. Both teams provided strong defence and the goalies worked their magic despite some strong shots. Sudden death overtime was another nail-biter ending with no goals. It was now Shoot out time! C7 was victorious in a 2-1 shootout.
