Richmond Jets U13A1 win in Vegas
The Jets’ U13A1 won the Las Vegas President’s Day 12U Tournament, beating a trio of U.S. teams en route to the title.
A Richmond Jets hockey team returned from Las Vegas a little heavier in the luggage department earlier this week.
In the round-robin, the team beat the Idaho Steelheads 6-4, the Santa Clarita Flyers 6-3 and the hosts, Las Vegas Storm, 3-2.
In the semis, Richmond took care of the Steelheads again, 8-5, before sweeping the Flyers aside in the final with a convincing 8-0 victory.
Coach Milton Chan said the tournament win was a “special one for me,” adding that he is “extremely proud of this group as they have come such a long way since the start of the season and they have exceeded my expectations as a coach.
“The family-like culture that we have built as a team was very evident on the ice.”
The team is now preparing to play in its four-point series game against Ridge Meadows U13 A1 on Feb. 26.
