First Shift Welcome Night with Applewood Nissan
On behalf of the Richmond Jets Minor Hockey Association, we wanted to thank Applewood Nissan for being a part of the Canucks Bauer First Shift Welcome Event.
The NHL/NHLPA FIRST SHIFT program is designed to ensure a positive experience for new-to-hockey families. We want families to experience the game at its best — to understand why so many Canadians feel an inherent love for the sport, and to stimulate a desire for continued participation.
The Richmond Jets have been running the First Shift event for a number of years and it was a pleasure to partner up once again with Applewood Nissan in Richmond BC, to help us deliver a Covid safe First Shift Welcome Event to all of our participants. The drive-thru concept provided a great way for kids to get fitted for their hockey gear while their parents waited in their cars. The Applewood team was very accommodating and Richmond Jets Director, Amber Kovich, did a wonderful job organizing the event, along with the Bauer Hockey First Shift team.
One of our main goals as a youth sports organization is to grow the game, be inclusive and involve the community. Teaming up with local Richmond businesses like Applewood Nissan helps us to achieve this goal and it was great to see the excitement of the families as they received their equipment. We would also like to thank Advantage Box, Applewood Nissan, and AB-Tech Plumbing for help with storage and logistics.
We look forward to seeing all the new hockey players on the ice in the coming weeks, as they begin their journey in the great sport of hockey.
