Bantam A2 Wins the Las Vegas Invitational Tournament
The Bantam A2 team has faced some challenges this season during their league games. They entered the MLK Las Vegas Ice Centre Invitational tournament held on January 17-20, 2020. Fourteen players were able to make the trip to Las Vegas to play in the tournament. The team played three round robin games with a 2-1 record.
The team faced some tremendous adversity when their captain suffered a broken arm due to a slash and was out of the tournament during their second game of the tournament.
The semi final game was against the New Mexico Warriors. This was the same team that they had lost to 4-2 in round robin play.
The Bantam A2 team ended up winning that semi-final game and were headed to the gold medal game. The gold medal game ended 1-1 tie after regulation time. The team headed to a six minute overtime with 3 on 3 play. No one scored during the 3 on 3 overtime and the game headed to a shootout!! Their Bantam A2 goalie ended up making some incredible saves to keep them in the shootout. Finally, their 4th shooter ended up scoring to win the tournament!
