We had another great turnout for our head shaving/donating community event. So far, this year’s total has surpassed $18,000 and climbing, which puts our total from the last eight years at over $113,000. That’s pretty impressive!

Here are some highlights from this year’s event:

  • Don Mathewson (one of our referees-in-chief) shaved his head and full beard
  • Vanessa Ma donated her hair and shaved her head with 0 guard
  • Our youngest participant this year was three-year-old Jayden Wi
  • We had a family with three generations: Barry So (grandpa), Jerome So (father), Aidan So (son), and Jenna So (daughter)
  • Even Ryan Lewis, a longtime barber at Steveston Barbers, was so inspired that he shaved his head as well
  • Both Shay’s Hair Studio and Steveston Barbers donated their time to cut and shave 22 heads of hair

We’d like to extend a special thanks to Jerome So and Bobby Atwal for donating some Canucks Jerseys and framed pictures.

Thank you to the BC Children’s Hospital for donating medals to this year’s participants and providing on-going medical support over the many years to all our kids.
