Vancouver Canucks First Shift
What Is First Shift?
The NHL/NHLPA FIRST SHIFT program is designed to ensure a positive experience for new-to-hockey families. We want families to experience the game at its best — to understand why so many Canadians feel an inherent love for the sport, and to stimulate a desire for continued participation. We want to take away any intimidation as it relates to equipment requirements, and/or rules of the game, remove potential safety concerns, and most importantly, provide an experience that is memorable and fun.
We need volunteers to run this program
The Vancouver Canucks First Shift program is looking for adult coaches and player volunteers (Midget and up). Anyone interested should fill out our volunteer form. If there is enough interest from volunteers, the final selection will be made by lottery.
All on-ice volunteers will receive Bauer swag. Player volunteers will also receive volunteer hour credits for high school graduation.
Volunteers must be available Saturday October 15, 2023 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm pm for the Welcome Event. This includes setup, tear-down, and assisting the new players being outfitted with Bauer equipment.
In addition to the Welcome Event, there are six on-ice sessions that volunteers are also required to attend. The ice schedule is yet to be determined, but we will work with the players who have volunteered to make these times work.
